American Horror Story Update!

Holy mother fucking shit balls shit. My mind is fucking BLOWN. BLOWN. I'm not even gonna be one of those bitches who pretend like they knew all along that Violet was dead because they're fucking liars. Oh by the way spoiler alert. I finally figured it out when the people walking by totally shunned her but their dog was mad barking. And let me tell you, this show has speedily become my favorite show EVER. That's right it flew past Sex and the City, Vampire Diaries, 3rd Rock from the Sun, and can't believe I'm saying this, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Sooo let's get into discussing this episode. I have no clue whether or not I think Tate is manipulating Violet or he really loves her. I'm also not sure if Violet really loves him back. Either way though, I still can't bring myself to hate Tate (haha that ryhmed) or disapprove of their relationship. Also I really appreciated the half nude Dylan McDermott. Hellooo Mr. Harmon! Even though a lot of people hate Constance, I appreciate the fact that she's well... constant in her character. No one can change who she is and she never lets herself become victimized. I was glad she hung up the phone on Lawrence because it shows she'll never lose her spunk. Where the hell is Moira?? I know she got fired or whatever but she still has to stay in the house sooo wtf? Anywho this show is about to get seriously interesting and it's only the first week! Can't wait for next week!

Healthy Skin Challenge!!

Hello! So I have finally gotten over being sick for the past week which is the cause of me being M.I.A. for a while. Now that I've explained my absence, I'm going explain my new experiment to test out how much food can really affect your skin. Okay, we've all heard the phrase "you are what you eat" so does this phrase apply to keeping healthy skin? I've researched a few articles and put together a list of five items I'm going to incorporate into my diet to improve my skin. At the end of two weeks I'm going to put up a post on my results. So the top five items are as follows:

Water!!!
Okay, so I'm pretty sure everyone knows it. The key to hydrated skin is eight glasses a day. To test how much of an affect it has on my skin I will be drinking only water for the next two weeks aside from my protein shakes and green smoothies. That means no sodas, juices, gatorades, or milk. We shall see if this drastically changes anything.

Strawberries
Strawberries are chuck full of vitamin C, said to protect against UV rays (not so sure how accurate that is...), and are a good anti-aging food.

Tomatoes
Tomatoes are rich in antioxidants and are completely delicious.

Carrots
Carrots are rich in vitamin A which is super good for your skin! What's up doc?

Spinach
Again with the vitamin A which is found in dark greens.

So, I'm planing on immersing these foods in my diet and reporting how much of a difference they do or do not make!

Eat, Pray, Love

I began watching this movie, actually I'm still watching this movie haha, and it just really inspired me. I've been planning on going to Europe in April and this movie made me want something more from this trip. I'm going to be spending my time in Ireland, England, and France. At first all I wanted was to shop, eat, maybe meet a few new people, the typical American experience. I now just have this hunger to explore something more and completely submerse myself in a culture unfamiliar to me. I wanna feel something new and different, go to the small, unknown, poor towns. In this movie a man says Americans need to feel like they need to earn the right to relax, have a break, and just be content and happy. Italians on the other hand just let themselves be calm and content and do nothing. They know that it is not something that is to be earned, but it is something that is deserved to all people. I think there's a lot of truth in that. A lot Americans work themselves to death their whole lives, worrying about money, their future, how people view them. My grandmother is 75 and still worrying about life. God made some of us lucky enough to be alive and the fact that we can treat this gift as something to worry about is kind of a slap in the face to the one who granted it to you. Sorry ranting again haha. So basically I just wish more people would just let themselves be content and glad to be alive, not be so controlled by the hassles of life and just let themselves live. The world would be a much happier place.

P.S. Gonna go down to B-A-M and pick up a copy of the book. Probably will do a blog post about which I like better :)

American Horror Story

SO second post for tonight but I had a couple of things I wanted to discuss. American Fucking Horror Story. Holy shit. This show is AWESOME. If you have not seen it, you really need to. It comes on FX at 10 on Wednesdays. So first off, SPOILER ALERT. Now that I got that out of the way last week's episode was sooo good. Hayden's a ghost, what happened to Violet??, is Adaline really dead?, annnd WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT BABY?! Unlike most shows that I usually can somewhat guess what's coming AHS makes me completely dumbfounded. If anyone has any theories feel FREE to share! So far I am loving the characters Violet and young Moira. It's probably because they're both bitches and for some reason I have a special place in my heart for rebellious nonchalant bitches. And I really love the fact that none of the characters are really likable... It's like you're a cheating asshole, you're a slut, you complain too much, you're a bitch, and you're a fucking psycho. Can you guess which characters match which adjectives? haha, but really not only is this show super clever it's pretty ballsy for the creators to be like ay, I'm gonna take a family of complete assholes and put them in a house where a lot of fucked up shit happens and let it be somewhat politically incorrect and HOPEFULLY things work out and it's a hit. So yeah I know this was a bit of a random rant but American Horror Story watch it!

VS Hot Top

So basically not only am I in love with this top, but I LOVE this picture and this look! I have now ordered this top and am excitingly waiting for it to come on Wednesday! I'm wearing it to this Friday's football game which just so happens to be the biggest game of the year. I'm pairing it with a tight dark pair of jeans and delightfully sultry black pumps. I am now left to decide with going for a structured jacket or blazer or a soft knit cardigan. I'll post a few pictures to show you what I decided Saturday. For hair I'm going to try to imitate the hair of the model's in the picture. I'm going to pair everything with a smokey kinda "I just woke up looking sooo amazing!" eye and red lip. Super stoked! Anyways hope you all are having a massively amazing Halloween!

New Halloween Costume

So my first costume went over pretty well at my friend Madison's Halloween party. I managed to take one picture which you will see below. I wore a black dress with 3/4 length sleeves that were lace along with the part of the dress that covered my collarbone. The part of the dress that covered my body had a sweetheart neckline and went a few inches above my knees in all black. I paired it with sheer 4 inch ankle booties from Chinese Laundry. My mask as you'll see was red with black trim and I wore mystery from MAC for the most part of my eyes. To top off the whole ensemble I wore a raspberry lip stain. If you haven't read on my last post, (you REALLY should read it) my whole costume was inspired by Katherine from The Vampire Diaries on the masquerade episode.
Excuse Melinda on the right.
For my second costume for Emma's party I was thinking of going for Coco Chanel. I figured it would be pretty simple and would not be too hard to create. I'm planning on wearing my navy Gap skinny jeans with a pair of nude pumps and a beige sweater. Then I'm going to curl my hair with a faux bob and top it all off with a smoky eye, bright lip, and lots of Chanel jewelry. Also this is just inspired, obviously Coco never wore exactly this but I think it would reflect her in a more modern environment. Plus being uber comfy is NEVER a bad thing ;) haha. Anyways I will definitely take many more pictures this time.

Happy Halloween,

Costumes

Today I went shopping for my Halloween costume. I had finally decided to just buy a mask and wear some ankle booties and a black dress. Think Katherine from The Vampire Diaries on the Masquerade episode. After picking my costume, I started thinking what the big fasination with Halloween was. I suppose getting the chance to be something you're too scared to be or something you wish you could be gives people a thrill. Sometimes I feel like Halloween is the one night of the year we don't wear a mask. The person we wish we could be or the person we really are comes out. Whether it's someone beautiful or strong or sexy it's our alter ego that we all wish could take over forever. It's a funny thing what clothes do for us. Some people call us fashionistas superficial or high-matinance, but we're not just making an outfit we're building confidence for women to not be  afraid to be themselves.

Atlanta Bread Company's Penne Pomodoro

So, I'd like to start off by saying I'm on  a serious health kick currently. And today I wake up rather early so I go and get some work done. My friend Cierra calls asking to go to the gym. Of course I say yes because like I said I'm trying to get my body in shape. We workout for about an hour and a half and then decided we were hungry. So we we go to Atlanta Bread Company where I order the penne pomodoro and a HiC...maybe not my best drink choice but hey I'm human. We finish up and I go home to find out the calories in my lunch. 920!!!!! What in the hell???? How could there possibly that many calories in ONE meal?? Not to mention the 1,880 mg of sodium!! I feel like I wrecked my entire diet today! Also adding the piece of bread and HiC I'm WELL over 1,000! Guess I'm glad I didn't eat breakfast and I'm not having dinner. I mean I didn't eat the entire meal but still soooo many calories! I feel like meals that are that bad for you should be labeled! Yes I understand it is also my responsibility as a consumer but I mean come on! Guess the only thing I can do is strive to do better tomorrow and stay away from pasta in general. Maybe one day calories will be printed on the menu. I bet America might slim down if that were the case.

Happily Ever After?

I got to thinking today about how after two people are married they supposedly become "one" but with today's always changing society, how many people really get married and stay married "until death to they part"? This also got me to thinking if the human species is actually able to stay married to one partner in a monogamous relationship for their entire life. For example Romeo and Juliet are supposed to be the greatest lovers of all time, correct? What if Shakespeare had decided to let them live together happily ever after?  Would they really be each others for all time or would Romeo get bored of Juliet and find a new partner? Or would Juliet grow tired of Romeo's love. Not to mention we all do know Juliet was around 13 and Romeo was in his 20's.... can we all say statutory rape? I also read an article this week titled Why Disney Princess's are the Worst Role Models EVER.  In this the author states that all Disney Princess movies end with a marriage like that's the end of the affair, but really it's the beginning and this is a bad example to young girls. But is it really? Lately I've seen so many people married for years getting divorces because of a cheating spouse. It's like you can't get away from the idea of cheating spouses either, it's on TV shows, in the media, even in your own neighborhood! Honestly, it's like America is trying to make multiple partners the norm. So this leaves us with the question, are two humans of the opposite sex really compatible?
